Echoing the Foundation’s mission as a center of dialogue between cultures of the East and the West, the Hide & Seek Festival of Muziekpublique invests the Villa Empain with ensemble Wajd.
Composed of four professional Syrian musicians who sought refuge in Belgium, the Wajd Ensemble brings a representative repertoire of Oriental music, and brings classical Syrian music based on Sugi music back to life. For these musicians, all from Aleppo, it is very important to highlight the richness of Syrian culture. With this purpose in view, the Wajd Ensemble brings little known and little-played works that they reinterpret in their own way.
