Pilates Lessons on Thursday mornings at Villa Empain

At the crossroads of calisthenics and yoga, Pilates primarily develops the abdominal, dorsal, interior and exterior buttock muscles and all other core postural muscles supporting your skeleton and that prove essential to avoid the now infamous backache. There are many benefits to this technique: improved posture, lean and long muscles, relaxed shoulders, a relieved back, a toned belly, increased strength and a more fulfilling sex life.

Sessions target both men and women at a beginners’ level.

For a more global approach to corporal work, I end each Pilates session with deep stretching, breathing and corporal consciousness exercises as well as self-massages… depending on the needs and energy of the group. I take as much time as necessary to correct your movements and find the right gesture. Each session ends with a deep relaxation.
I grant huge importance to practicing this activity in a good-humoured atmosphere and within the limitations of every participant.

PS: Since the Pilates method does not focus on endurance, it ideally complements other sporting activities such as walking, swimming, or cycling…

My journey

When I was a child, I spent all my time in dance studios (classical and jazz) or practicing elite apparatus gymnastics. I very quickly realized that I liked nothing more than sharing knowledge. My studies in Physical Education and as a specialized educator and psychomotor therapist taught me various bodily and psycho-corporal approaches (Gerda Alexander Eutony, Eric Franklin approach, Feldenkrais method and relaxation techniques…).

The “meanders” of life steered my professional career towards the creation of projects in social and health fields, at the same time I practiced yoga for my own wellbeing. I discovered the Pilates Method in 2009 and was seduced by its efficiency, particularly for a non sportive audience…

Lessons on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. (please arrive 5 minutes before)
 Wear comfortable clothing, body-fitting t-shirt (to correct your movements)
Don’t forget to bring a plaid or a blanket to cover your body during relaxation

Trial sessions
I offer two trial sessions on Friday 28 and Monday 31 August (8 p.m.).

The aim of these sessions consists in demonstrating my teaching method and to allow me to see whether this type of group course will prove beneficial for you. If necessary, I shall redirect you to other professionals (physiotherapists, osteopaths, individual lessons).

Please note that the trial sessions will be held in the small alley next to number 68, avenue des Archiducs – 1170 W-B (Easy parking – bus #41)
