The Boghossian Foundation

Established in 1992, the Boghossian Foundation is committed to support many educational, urbanistic, artistic, and cultural projects in different countries. In Belgium, Boghossian Foundation acquired, in 2006, the famous Villa Empain, gem of Brussels Art Deco architecture, in order to establish its head office and a center for art and dialogue between the cultures of the East and the West.

After the complete restoration of this edifice classified as a Belgian monuments and sites heritage, Villa Empain opened its doors to the public on April 2010, offering a variety of cultural and artistic activities : exhibitions, concerts, conferences and international meetings, etc. Boghossian Foundation can also host students, artists and scholars-in-residence in Villa Empain.

Since 2012, Boghossian Foundation Prize has reflected the desire to promote and strengthen ties between the East and the West through art.

Boghossian Foundation prize in Lebanon in 2017

This year, the prizes cover the fields of  painting, photography and fashion design. The age limit for the artists and the creators is 40 years old.

The three laureates each receive $10.000 dollars and the opportunity to stay in Brussels’ ‘Inhabitation’, the artist residence of the Villa Empain that also boasts a studio. The Foundation covers all travel and accommodation costs.

Practical information

Applications for the prizes of painting, photography and fashion design have to be send on CD to the address P.O.Box : 16/6421 or via WeTransfer at, before October 10, 2017.

The application file shall comprise:

– A scanned copy of the ID card
– A Résumé ( C.V. of two pages maximum )
– For the painting, sculpture candidates (under the age of 40): a portfolio of 30 pictures maximum in the .jpg format, with a size ranging between 1000 and 2000 pixels in length. Pictures files should be  as bearing the: Fullname_Title_Year

The “Littérature Jeunesse” Prize

The Boghossian Foundation and Assabil – friends of public libraries, have the pleasure and the honor to announce the creation of their annual prize in children’s literature.

The prize, endowed with 5000 $, will be awarded to the best fiction book directed towards children of 8 to 12 years old, published in Arabic in Lebanon, written and illustrated by Lebanese authors, in the course of the year 2016. A jury of experts will choose the winning book and determine the allotment of the global amount between writer and illustrator. Claims or contestations will not be accepted.

Adaptations and translations will not be considered.

The novelty and creativity of the subject, the quality of the language and of the illustrations will be among the criteria the jury will take into account.

Assabil will contact all the editors to encourage them to send their books to the jury.

The Boghossian/Assabil Prize in children’s literature will be awarded in the fall of 2017, along with the other prizes sponsored by the Foundation.

The editor will have the right to place a blindfold on the winning book mentioning the full name of the prize. Two special mentions will also be attributed.

Assabil association will organize meetings between students of public schools and the winning authors of the three books in its network of public libraries. A number of copies of the books will be acquired by Assabil and distributed to participants. 

For the year 2017, the Assabil association received hundred books sent by the Lebanese publishers. The specialized jury which was chosen, works at present to choose the best book.
