Intersecting views Armenia – Turkey
A musical encounter around a common heritage shared by two peoples
Thursday 31 January 2019, at 7 pm
Beyond sharing a musical heritage, Armenians and Turks of Anatolia lived together peacefully for nearly a thousand years, and share a commun history and memory. This cohabitation abruptly ended on the day of the “The Great Catastrophe”. Ever since then, eye contact has been avoided, words have clashed, memories have collided, and hearts have become frozen in deafening silence.
Despite all the obstacles to their reunion, friendly voices are united and raised to recount the memory of a common suffering. The voices are those belonging to Armenians and Turks from Europe, who dare to question the unspeakable in the hope of meeting again.
Turkish singer Gülay Hacer Toruk, Iranian musician Shadi Fathi and the band Hey Hey – artists from this plural immigration from Turkey – offer a musical moment tinged with melancholy but also with the joy that is so characteristic of the people of Anatolia.
This event is organized with the support of COCOF and Plateforme 50.
