Concert : ‘The Musical Orchard ‘ by Lux Beata

The Musical Orchard

The spirit of Armenia can in some ways be compared to the image of a fruit‐bearing apricot tree. Music in 17th-century Italy was rife with allusions to gardens and fruits in abundance. Where the Armenian music offers endless sweetness with a taste of bitterness gained from a rich, terrible and turbulent past, the early Baroque of southern Italy seems like an overflowing platter of strange and luscious tastes, the giardino armonico opening up to its listeners through one of the most fascinating eras in our history.

Lux Beata

Founded in 2014 by Fredrik Hildebrand, the group centers around the viol in its different sizes and in all possible combinations. Each member of this newly born group is an established musician, with an experience that includes recordings, extensive tours of Europe and Asia as well as working with dancers and visual artists. The repertoire of Lux Beata spans over 500 years, with a focus on Italian and Spanish music from the 16th and 17th centuries, but also contemporary music as well as traditional and ethnic styles.
