Orients, between Roubaix and Lens
Saturday 28 april en Saturday 19 May 2018
For its next cultural trip, the Boghossian Foundation invites you to join an oriental programme between Roubaix and Lens, accompanied by Christophe Dosogne, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine COLLECT Arts Antiques Auctions. During this one day trip you will discover three exhibitions.
The day will begin at the Louvre-Lens Museum with the exhibition L’empire des roses devoted to 19th century Iranian art. A guided tour will invite you to discover the sumptuous art of the Qajar dynasty. As from the 18th century, Iran opened up to modernity while seeking to preserve its identity, traditional disciplines such as drawing gave way to new techniques, such as oil painting and photography.
Lunch will take place at the Louvre-Lens Museum, at Marc Meurin’s restaurant, doubly starred by the Michelin Guide.
During the afternoon, we will gradually retrace our steps, with a first stop at the LaM in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, for a guided tour of the exhibition Nicolas Schöffer. Rétroprospective. This exhibition celebrates the prospective work, in the cybernetic vein, of one of the most emblematic personalities of post-war creation in France. The art of Nicolas Schöffer is at the crossroads of science and technology, especially cybernetics, in an approach that will have worn the most optimistic hopes and visions of the Glorious Thirties.
The day will end in Tourcoing, with the commented visit of the exhibition Chrétiens d’Orient. 2000 ans d’histoire presented at the MUba. After the success from last year at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, this exhibition proposes a journey through the religious, political, cultural and artistic history of Eastern Christian communities, from Antiquity to present day. In a unique scenography a fine selection of masterpieces is presented, including some exceptional pieces from Iraq, exhibited for the first time.
