Sunday 17 December, at 4.30 pm

Artist and musician, Rafay Rashid, in residence at the Boghossian Foundation presents a live multimedia performance with new work. It incorporates music, dance, and video art to create an ephemeral and interactive experience for the Villa Empain. The piece will run for forty-five minutes with musical compositions that blend eastern improvisational techniques with western traditional pop song structures. The performance explores cultural identity in the digital age, drawing on the artist’s background as a Pakistani and an American.

Rafay Rashid is from Islamabad, Pakistan and Providence, Rhode Island. He has played all over the U.S. with his band and also in art spaces including the Whitney Museum, NY and the Rockbund Museum in Shanghai. His work blurs the line between music performance, sound installation, video art, and dance.
