screensaver (gallery version) is a sculptural dance that shifts its organisation over time, emulating organic forms and patterns.
The temporarily altered- “blank”-state of the early computer screen in screen-saver mode is here imagined as a moratorium on meaning making, a pause in processing, and a space in which something else can unfold. The screensaver project as a whole is concerned with non-neurotypical cognitive experience, especially of a “background” state in which the movement of colour and patterns are foregrounded in between other types of demand and activity. In theatre contexts the work articulates a position in dialogue with what temporally proceeds and follows in a programme of works. In the gallery version, screensaver articulates in relation to the attentional dynamics proposed by the context and the visitors.
