Janine Harrington
Satelliser: a dance for the gallery
Saturday 11 June 2016, from 2 pm to 6 pm

Choreographer, performer and writer Janine Harrington, in residency at the Boghossian Foundation early this year, comes back to the Villa Empain to present her recent performance Satelliser: a dance for the gallery.
During four hours, six dancers subtly interact with the visitors’ movements, playing with the relationship between performance, visitor, and space.

Janine Harrington is a choreographer, performer and writer born in Canterbury, UK. She holds an MFA (Book Arts) from University of the Arts, London (2011) and a BA (Hons) in Dance Theatre from Laban (2006). She utilises non-theatre spaces to choreograph sets of parameters between audience and performers foregrounding ideas about relationship and agency. She has been commissioned by Brighton Festival, South East Dance, Islington Borough Council/ Central St. Martins, Siobhan Davies Dance, The Hepworth Wakefield and Gi20. She has performed with Tino Sehgal since 2012 and has interpreted his works at Tate Modern London, Venice Biennale, KIASMA in Helsinki, and the Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam. Between February and March 2016 she was in residence at Fondation Boghossian, Brussels.
